The Art of Love in Flowers™
A closer look at the meaning, movement, and thought behind each design.
A Thoughtful Approach to Floral Design
Flowers are a physical expression of feeling, but they are also part of something larger.
At Wild Roses & Blooms, there is an awareness that every decision carries an impact. Some choices support the environment, while others may work against it. It is not always possible to be perfectly aligned, but there is a commitment to do the best we can, thoughtfully and intentionally.
We have to start somewhere. This is where we start.
Whenever possible, floral material is sourced locally or grown using organic methods. The garden to vase movement reflects a return to something more natural, more connected, and more aware.
Organic and Local Sourcing
The idea of organic growing was once unfamiliar to most people, yet over time it has become something many now seek out and value.
During the growing season, there is a beautiful variety of floral material available locally, often grown using organic or near-organic methods. While formal certification can be complex and costly, many growers are deeply committed to responsible practices.
Working with these flowers allows each design to feel more connected to the season and to the place in which it is created.
Growing and Experimentation
There is also an ongoing effort to grow unusual and seasonal varieties directly.
These flowers may not always have the scale or uniformity of commercially grown blooms, but that is not the goal. The intention is to create beauty while remaining connected to the process and the environment.
This work comes with challenges. Pests, weather, and natural limitations are all part of it. Solutions are often simple and hands-on, from organic treatments to traditional methods passed through a community of experienced growers.
It is a continuous process of learning, adapting, and observing.
Supporting Pollinators
Protecting pollinators is an important part of this approach.
Organizations such as the Pollinator Pathway help bring awareness to the role of native plants and sustainable growing practices in supporting these essential ecosystems.
By encouraging biodiversity and working with nature rather than against it, even small choices can contribute to something larger.
Sustainable Design Methods
Traditional floral design often relies on materials that are not environmentally friendly.
One example is floral foam, a plastic-based material commonly used to hold arrangements in place. While widely used, it raises concerns in terms of environmental impact and longevity.
Whenever possible, alternative methods are used that better support both the flowers and the environment. There may be rare situations where conventional materials are necessary, but there is always an effort to find a more thoughtful solution.
Creating Beauty with Awareness
Making environmentally conscious choices is not always simple.
Flower farming is a global industry, and change happens gradually. It begins with awareness, with asking questions, and with making more thoughtful decisions wherever possible.
Wild Roses & Blooms is part of that ongoing shift.
The goal is not perfection. It is to create something meaningful, while remaining aware of the impact behind each decision, and to contribute, in whatever way possible, to a more balanced and sustainable future.
